I'll be honest, when we launched a campaign to read 10,000 pages this summer, I wasn't sure if we'd make it. But I should never have doubted the Stand family because you certainly stepped up and shared some truly inspiring stories about reading this summer.
More than 100 families signed up and together, we exceeded our goal!
We are often told we should read 20 minutes every night, but do we really know why? Reading with your child promotes language, vocabulary, imagination, and development. Reading together can also strengthen your family bonds, provide stability, and set an exciting expectation for a nightly activity.
Did you know that if you read to your child for 20 minutes every night for a year, you'll read for just over 120 hours total, and they'll hear 1.8 million words? That's an investment we can't miss.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in this project and read on their own. We are so proud to have you with us. And a special congratulations to our three winners, who were drawn at random, and will each have $100 worth of books donated in their name to their communities.
