Stand students supporting students
Zephaniah Dangerfield has been a member of the Stand for Children Louisiana family for many years, tagging along with his mama, Nikki, as she has fought and worked to improve outcomes for her four children, grandchild - and all children - in her community.
As a senior this year at McKinley High School in Baton Rouge, Zeph decided it was his turn to give back. Following his mother’s example and applying what he learned from Stand for Children about the importance of reading on grade-level by third grade, Zeph decided to head back to school.
“The more they read, the more things they will know. The more they learn, the more places they can go.”
Zeph is currently working with students at Claiborne Elementary School – spending valuable one-on-one time with struggling readers, focusing on comprehension and sight words.
The Stand Spotlight series will regularly highlight the amazing work of our members in their community. We look forward to sharing this work ahead with you.
