This is one post in a series made possible by a grant from Capital Area United Way. The grant allowed Stand for Children Louisiana to provide direct cash transfers to twelve qualified members to support quality early education and/or continuing adult education.
I joined Stand for Children Louisiana in 2016 because I understood how important it was for our community to choose leaders who cared deeply about our children’s education and future. During my time at Stand Louisiana, I have volunteered to canvass during elections and advocated for quality children’s education. I have had the opportunity to meet other community members who share this passion and together, we have worked hard to elect leaders who will fight for the future we want.
With the support and guidance of Stand Louisian's team, I have had the opportunity to grow in my role as a leader in my community. I have had the opportunity to canvass for candidates I am proud to support, and I am proud to have seen them get elected to their office. This work with Stand has empowered me to raise my voice for my kids. I now know my voice matters and I have the power to help our community elect good leaders and decision makers.
I am grateful to Stand Louisiana for the opportunity to advocate for my children. The direct payment awarded by Capital Area United Way and Stand Louisiana will be helpful to further my children’s education. It will help my family get back on our feet after losing my job due to COVID-19.
