This is one post in a series made possible by a grant from Capital Area United Way. The grant allowed Stand for Children Louisiana to provide direct cash transfers to twelve qualified members to support quality early education and/or continuing adult education.
My name is Brianna Braxton, and I am a mother of a one-year-old boy named Steven. When Covid-19 started to affect my area, I lost my job and had to scramble to figure out how I was going to afford childcare for my son. Thankfully, due to being a volunteer and active member with Stand Louisiana, I was a recipient for the Capital Area United Way direct payment that I used to pay for my son’s education. It was a huge sense of relief for me and my family to receive this money because we prioritize continuity in quality education for Steven. Thank you so much for this gift, we love Stand Louisiana and look forward to continuing our involvement with this amazing organization!
