Mr. Kiper is the 2019 Louisiana State Teacher of the Year and a Stand for Children LEAD Fellow

I often say that I didn’t choose the teaching profession, the teaching profession chose me. As the 2019 Louisiana State Teacher of the Year, I am blessed to be the voice of 20,000 teachers across the state and an advocate for the thousands of students we serve.

This Teacher Appreciation Month, I hope you’ll show your support for Louisiana educators by pledging your support to Raise Up Teachers!

It’s time to Raise Up Teachers in Louisiana by providing professional development that is both meaningful and impactful, providing services to students that need them, and providing equitable pay for teachers. We can Raise Up Teachers by reducing class sizes and providing quality instructional materials so that we can provide high-quality instruction that meets the equitable needs of all students in Louisiana.

It's time to Raise Up Teachers, because now more than ever, it's important that we have the most qualified professionals teaching and mentoring our students across the state. Will you take a moment to show your appreciation of educators by pledging to Raise Up Teachers today?

  • When I think of the quality of professional development classroom teachers need, I think of this Sheryl Sandberg quote. "Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence." This type of leadership cannot happen without strategic support and follow-through. God bless EVERY classroom teacher committed to excellence!
