Charisse began working as a parent liaison in Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS), where she found her love for working with and being a resource for parents. Through her activism as a parent and an employee at Washigton Irving Elementary School #14, Charisse became familiar with the work of Stand for Children. After graduating from Stand UP, she became a parent leader, took leadership training, and became a team captain before joining the Stand Indiana team as a parent organizer.
Charisse grew up mostly in Indianapolis but spent her high school years in Columbus, MS. After graduating college with a degree in travel managament, Charisse realized that working with people was the path that she wanted to take in life. She has three children, two of which are completing their last years of college, and one in middle school. She enjoys working for Stand for Children because she knows firsthand the opportunities and benefits of being a Stand parent.
