Erin Browne
Operations Coordinator

As we celebrate the 10th year of Stand for Children Indiana, we will take time each month to ask our hard-working employees their favorite memories, education dreams and words of wisdom.  This month, learn a little more about Stand for Children Indiana’s Operations Coordinator, Erin Browne.

  1. How long have you been at Stand Indiana and why did you decide to come work for this organization? I’ve been at Stand for about 6.5 years and the reason I decided to come here was that I had heard positive stories about the staff. Everyone said it was a motivated team that was working hard toward a mission that’s dear to my heart. I’ve stayed because the work we do is so important and the families we serve are always at the heart of everything we do.
  2. What is the best part of working alongside Indianapolis parents? I like to watch parents gain confidence and find their voices when it comes to getting the best for their own children, as well as for the community at large.
  3. What is your favorite Stand Indiana memory? The very first Stand UP graduation ceremony that I witnessed holds a special place in my heart. Seeing all the parents receive recognition for their hard work and dedication was a privilege and inspiring in the best way possible.
  4. What do you see as the biggest challenge facing education in 2020? Top down decisions being made that impact students and families as opposed to grassroots, collaborative efforts to bolster community partnership.
  5. What are your dreams for the next 10 years when it comes to improving education? Seeing all families receive access to high-quality educational opportunities. No matter what.
  6. Who was your favorite teacher in school? Why? It’s too difficult to truly pick a favorite, but Mrs. Haler, my first-grade teacher comes to mind. She instilled a love of reading in me that I’ve carried with me through my whole life.
  7. What advice would you give to a young child in school who may be reading this? People will always remember how others make them feel, so be kind to anyone who you encounter. Being consistent and hardworking pays off, too!
  8. What is your favorite thing to do when you aren’t at work? Anything active with my family.
  9. It seems small, but if you had an extra 10 minutes in your day, how would you spend it? Enjoy more walks with fresh air and sunshine.
  10. If you could switch roles with anyone on the Stand team what role would it be and why? I’d switch with Ashley because our roles and personalities are so different. She’s so bubbly and charismatic and I’d love to spend a day in her schools working directly with the parents and students.
