Stand for Children Indiana would like to welcome Kizzie Adams as our newly hired Development Coordinator.
Adams is originally from Detroit, where she began to realize her passion for education as she dedicated her time to local organizations that focused on providing quality education to young women in low income neighborhoods.
While attending Columbia College in Chicago, Adams volunteered at high schools as a tutor for at-risk youth.
After receiving her degree, she moved to Indianapolis, where she now resides, and received her Master of Arts in Teaching from Marian University. Adams taught for three years in the Indianapolis Public Schools district as a 6th grade math teacher, but ultimately left because as a teacher, she “didn’t feel like many people were fighting for teachers and their students.”
“Whether mentally or physically, teachers are in the classroom 24/7” Adams said.
Kizzie knows teachers fight daily for their students and their families, and came to Stand Indiana to work for students, parents and teachers in a meaningful way - behind the scenes.
Outside of the work she is doing with Stand Indiana, Adams is a talented musician who enjoys composing and writing her own songs. She also enjoys practicing yoga and watching reruns of Supernatural.
