Parents and advocates have given me hope and inspired me to continue fighting for education equity and racial justice over the last year. If you haven’t already registered, I hope you’ll join us for our advocacy summit next week to learn what’s next and hear directly from some of these advocates. If you have already registered, I look forward to seeing you soon.
Advocates affiliated with Stand Indiana gave me hope when Senate Bill 368, a vital youth justice reform bill, passed last legislative session. Michael, for example, inspired me each time he told his story – going from someone who had never spoken to a group of legislators to someone shaking the governor’s hand at the signing of SEA 368. He knew his story opened eyes and changed hearts. During this advocacy summit, you’ll learn what’s next for youth justice in our state.
I hope this example highlights the transformative power of your voice and I hope to see you on January 12.
