Dozens of Stand for Indiana parents volunteers gathered at the IPS offices September 18th to voice their support for the new IPS High School plan. The plan calls for reinventing the high schools into college and career academies where students have 100 percent choice on the college or career path they wish to pursue.
Wearing their Stand t-shirts and carrying signs of support for the plan, which should also save the school system approximately $7 million a year in operating costs, parents spoke about why this plan is the best way forward.
Parents also gathered nearly 800 emails from supporters of the plan and presented them to Superintendent Ferebee and school board members inside the IPS building. The event was covered by most media outlets in Indianapolis. Watch news coverage of the event here.
