Stand for Children Indiana today announced the promotion of communications veteran Kate Shepherd to Marketing and Communications Director. Shepherd was hired by Stand Indiana in March of 2013 to fill the Marketing and Communications Manager role.
Shepherd will oversee media relations, brand management and social media activities for the education advocacy group.
“A fundamental part of our work is effectively communicating with parents and school leaders across our state,” said Stand for Children Indiana Executive Director Justin Ohlemiller. “Kate’s proven leadership and expertise in mass communication makes her a critical part of our team, and certainly worthy of taking on this new role in our organization.”
Shepherd was a fixture in the Indiana broadcasting community for more than 15 years, serving as producer/anchor at Inside INdiana Business, senior anchor and reporter at Network Indiana, and weekend anchor at the network’s sister station, WIBC. Shepherd also held positions at WISH-TV and WAJC-FM in Indianapolis. She had previously led marketing and communications efforts for a variety of private and public sector organizations, including the Indianapolis law firm Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP, Planned Parenthood of Indiana, and the office of then-Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita.
Shepherd is an Indianapolis-native and graduated cum laude from Butler University.
Shepherd can be reached at 317-759-2632 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
