IPS District 2: Venita Moore
Venita Moore is running for the IPS school board district two seat because she cares about IPS and the children it serves. In her Stand Indiana candidate survey, Moore demonstrated her deep IPS roots writing, “I attended Indianapolis Public Schools Hazel Heart Hendricks #37, John Coleman #110 and I am a graduate of Arlington High School. My family also boasts three generations of IPS graduates.”
Moore stated in her survey that if elected she would place importance upon employment and retention of quality teachers and staff, safe schools, ending the school-to-prison pipeline, school accountability and family and community engagement.
As a board member, Moore stated she would be open to all ideas for improvement, including innovation, stating “just as the world has evolved, so have our students and there is a mandate that we meet them where they are in a simple, comprehensive and stimulating manner.”
Moore is the managing principal of Engaging Solutions – an Indianapolis-based management consulting firm. Throughout her career, Moore has provided fiscal management and/or accounting services to small businesses, not-for-profits, and schools and formerly served as the Interim and Deputy Secretary for the Indiana Family and Social Service Administration and Chief for the Division of Planning and Special Programs at the Internal Revenue Service.
