Staphany was raised in Chicago’s Bronzeville neighborhood and is a product of Chicago Public Schools. She was a member of the first graduating class of Ariel Community Academy and graduated from John Hope College Preparatory High School. She later attended the prestigious Historically Black College Tougaloo College in Mississippi. While there, Staphany served as the Student Government Association President and was initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Emphasis in Business Administration.
Prior to joining Stand, Staphany served as the Coordinator of School Leadership at Teach for America in Chicago. There she worked with school leaders, coordinated events, data entry, participated in diversity, equity and inclusiveness trainings. She admires the work of educators, especially her sister Yvonne.
Staphany is excited to be a part of the Illinois team and is empowered by their passion for education. As Operations Coordinator, Staphany ensures the Illinois team’s success by managing office operations, assisting with field and event logistics, and ensuring the Illinois team has the tools they need to thrive.
In her past time, Staphany enjoys creative writing, reading, and watching anime.
