Jacquelyn Dortch joined the Stand Illinois family in September of 2011. Born and raised on the West Side of Chicago, Jacquelyn has lived the life that she has worked to improve for others. From Kindergarten to the fourth grade Jacquelyn attended a neighborhood school that was overcrowded, lacked resources and was not meeting the identified performance standards. Wanting more for their children, Jacquelyn’s parents decided to enroll them in the city wide busing program. Jacquelyn was bused from her neighborhood school to a school more than one hour away. It was there however that Jacquelyn would be able to feed her desire for learning and achievement. She went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Southern Illinois University, and a Master’s degree in Human Services Administration from Spertus College. Jacquelyn has committed more than 20 years of working in various facets of Human Services, from Child Welfare, Juvenile Justice to Early Care and Education. She has served on several boards, state wide committees, advisory and advocacy groups in order to influence policy that would improve the lives of children and families. Jacquelyn has also worked as a Professor of Psychology and Sociology at DeVry University.
Jacquelyn knows firsthand the value of a good quality education. She has joined the Stand family to ensure that quality education is available in each and every community!
