In the runup to last week’s historic Election Day in Chicago, Stand was going door-to-door in southside neighborhood to get a better sense of the education issues Chicagoans care about most. Now, it’s time to tell our new mayor what residents said.
Mayor-elect Lori Lightfoot takes office on May 20. Join us and sign her call-to-action welcome card. Let’s share with Lightfoot which issues matter most to Chicagoans so we can collaborate from Day 1 of her administration to build a brighter future for our children and city.
These big issues stood out, and perhaps you have others in mind.
- High-quality pre-K and enriching summer experiences so students enter school ready to learn and succeed
- Fully-funded neighborhood schools that serve as safe spaces for students and families and vibrant neighborhood centers
- Vocational and technical education programs that train young people to become the next generation of well-paid, skilled workers
If you care about these issues too, prove it – sign the welcome card for Mayor-elect Lightfoot. And let us know about the other education issues you are passionate about: we want to hear from you!
Let’s work together to make all Chicago schools great ones.
