Stand for Children Illinois PAC, a bi-partisan state political action committee, announced today its list of endorsed candidates for State House and Senate races for the 2020 Primary Election.

“The state and local elections taking place in 2020 will have a profound impact on the quality of schools our children attend. The way to move the needle forward for our next generation, and to dismantle the systemic barriers shackling too many, is by electing diverse and solutions-oriented leaders with the courage to create a world-class public education system which ensures all children have access to a quality education. That’s why the Stand for Children Illinois PAC supports education champions in the General Assembly,” said Mimi Rodman, Chairperson of the PAC.

For the 2020 Primary Election, Stand for Children Illinois PAC is endorsing the following candidates for the General Assembly:

For State Senate

Sen. Robert Martwick (D-10)

Sen. Robert Peters (D-13)

Sen. Cristina Castro (D-22)

Meg Cappel (D-49)

For State House of Representatives

Rep. Theresa Mah (D-2)

Rep. Yehiel M. Kalish (D-16)

Rep. Thaddeus Jones (D-29)

Rep. Jaime Andrade, Jr. (D-40)

Janet Yang Rohr (D-41)

Rep. Rita Mayfield (D-60)

Rep. Barbara Hernandez (D-83)

Rep. Avery Bourne (R-95)

Stand for Children Illinois PAC endorses candidates in state and local races. Its endorsement process includes a questionnaire, personal interviews by Stand staff and members, and assessment of candidate viability. The 2020 Primary Questionnaire covered policy issues and the candidate’s views on improving the culture in Springfield and dismantling systemic racism. If the candidate has held elected office before, the PAC looks at their voting record and demonstrated ability to reach across the aisle.
