This year has shown us, more clearly than ever before, the impact of government action and inaction at all levels. Our state faces a severely underfunded education system. Our nation faces a moment of reckoning as we continue the work of dismantling systemic barriers holding back too many people.
We are keenly aware that, when it comes to the quality of the schools our kids attend, elections have profound consequences. For these reasons and more, Stand for Children Illinois PAC supports education champions for the Illinois General Assembly.
The education champions we support for election in November will be tasked with steering Illinois through these challenging times. They also must look to the future as we work to fully fund education in our state and dismantle those systemic barriers preventing too many students from reaching their fullest potential.
These diverse and solutions-oriented leaders have the courage to create a world-class public education system that ensures all children, regardless of where they live in Illinois, have access to a quality education. We need leaders like these in Springfield, and that’s why the Stand for Children Illinois PAC supports them for election to the General Assembly.
Today, we are pleased to announce Stand’s endorsement of these 21 education champions for the 2020 General Election:

Among them are legislators who have been at the forefront of fighting for equitable school funding and individuals whose dedication to public service inspires us. There are teachers, academics, lawyers, immigrants, and individuals of different faiths and ages from up and down the Prairie State. Quite simply, our endorsed candidates reflect the rich fabric of Illinois and will stand up for children, if voters stand with them on November 3.
Stand for Children Illinois PAC only endorses in contested elections so, depending on where you live, this list includes a candidate from your state legislative district. (You can find your district here or we can help you.) Even if it doesn’t, you can get involved. Even in a pandemic, there are many ways to support these education champions, whether or not they’re on the other side of the state from your home. We can help you get started.
If you live in a district with an endorsed candidate, we’ll be in touch soon with more info about why we support their election. If you don’t, no need to worry: we will reach out soon as Election Day nears with more updates. In the meantime, sign this pledge to show you understand that elections matter.
