Students receive report cards on how they’re doing academically. In Illinois, every public school and school district does, too.

This year’s release of the Illinois Report Card is a particularly big deal for parents, educators, and taxpayers, because of a new category of information. For the first time, you’ll be able to see how much individual schools are spending. In the past, we had district-level spending, but were in the dark about how that money was making its way to individual schools.

We’re excited about this increased level of transparency! It is another step in the direction of greater educational equity in Illinois.

Here’s an overview to skim while we wait for the report cards’ release on Wednesday at noon.
