I know this is a busy time of year, so I’ll keep this brief.

CPS is updating its policy used to measure school performance and ratings. The School Quality Rating Policy (SQRP) sounds like word salad but is actually really important. The goal, ultimately, is to tell parents and community members how schools (and the district) are doing academically, while also giving shout outs to schools for achievement and growth.

It also sets out a framework for goal-setting for schools and helps flag schools that may need extra supports. Finally, it helps guide the Board of Education’s decision-making processes.

Important stuff! And now, CPS is looking to change the SQRP for the better. They want feedback from parents and community members to help reshape the policy so that it is more responsive to stakeholders like us.

Will you join me in providing feedback on the SQRP survey? It shouldn’t take much of your valuable time, but your responses are important to help the district continue to improve the SQRP.

Thanks for adding your voice to the mix, especially during this hectic time of year.
