I can write this blog, and you can read it, because of all the people who put us on the path to literacy. Our teachers, parents, friends. All the writers, librarians, and artists who inspire us to embrace the written word. And the policymakers who actively stand up for quality education.

This summer, nearly 100 Chicago Public Schools students participated in Stand’s Every Child Reads program. These students read over 33,000 minutes and 3,200 books! Because of generous supporters, we were able to give over 1,000 books to the kids so they could grow their at-home libraries.

This essential work to improve literacy for Illinois students is only possible thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, friends. Honor the hard work of these young readers with your $25 donation today.

Take a moment to enjoy Stand Up and Read, a collection of book reviews and more by several of the families who joined the Every Child Reads movement. Check out their creativity and learn more about their reading adventures.

I urge you to check out the wonderful creativity that the students put on display in their book reviews. Their love of reading is just beginning, and through your generosity, together we can encourage that same love of reading in even more students.

Reading opens the doors of opportunity. Thank those who opened those doors for you. Pay it forward by opening those doors for others with your tax-deductible gift.
