What a time here in Chicago. Mother Nature can’t make up her mind whether it’s winter or spring. Classes are barreling toward the finish line in a few months.
And today, we’re less than three weeks away from having a new leader for our city. When Mayor-elect Lori Lightfoot is sworn in, Chicago will witness another historic moment. We must use this moment to spur action for a better future for Chicago students.
I need you to stand with Chicagoans from across the city and sign the call-to-action welcome card for Mayor-elect Lightfoot. Let’s show the tremendous support for education priorities in our city.
Over the weekend, Naa told you about the issues she learned about going door-to-door speaking to Chicago families. It’s important for us to remember that folks care about high-quality pre-K and enriching summer experiences, neighborhood schools that are safe spaces for students and families, and critical vocational and technical education programs for high school students.
It’s also important to remember, though, that these are not the only issues Chicago parents care about. When you sign the welcome card, be sure to let us know about the issues you care about most deeply. We want to include as many voices as possible!
We’re three weeks from history. Let’s make the most of this moment.
