Even before he takes the oath of office, President-elect Biden is signaling his intent to make government a force for good and society more just.

As part of his emergency relief plan to lift the nation out of the pandemic, the President-elect proposed a monumental expansion of the Child Tax Credit, which lifts more children out of poverty than any other federal program.

Illinois’ senators, Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, will be instrumental in passing this landmark legislation.

Contact your senators TODAY and urge them to support Biden's proposal when Congress reconvenes.

Households with children experience the highest rates of food, housing, and medical hardship of any age group in the United States. Black and Brown children are disproportionately impacted. In Illinois, 17 percent of Illinois children live in poverty, only slightly lower than the national average of 18 percent.

Thankfully, Biden's proposal will make an instant, transformative impact.

Economists, academics, and elected officials from both parties agree the tax credit expansion would effectively eliminate the most extreme forms of child poverty in the United States, by helping families that survive on cash incomes of $2 per person, per day. It will also reduce child poverty by 45% and reduce poverty among Black children by 52%.

The time has come to transform the Child Tax Credit. The table is set for our nation's leaders to provide transformational help to struggling families.
