Reading has the power to change kids’ lives. I know because I watched it happen.

I spent the summer leading our Every Child Reads program, which provides free books and literacy tools to families so that students keep reading while school is out.

I will never forget one student who started off slowly. But he kept at it. He kept pushing himself, and by the end of the summer, he was reading at a higher level.

That’s why I do what I do. To help kids get excited about learning and reading, and to engage their parents to support them on that journey.

Today is International Literacy day, a perfect opportunity to reflect on the importance of reading and the difference it can make in a child’s life. Will you chip in $10 to cover the cost of one book for a future ECR student?

Today is special, but Stand for Children works every day to increase kids’ access to books and programs that will boost their reading skills.

Literacy opens the doors of opportunity. Today is a great chance to thank those who opened those doors for you (and also to pick up a book and read with your child!). Pay it forward by opening those doors for more students with a $10 tax-deductible gift today.
