Earlier today, I testified at the House Education Funding Reform Committee about the Evidence-Based Model, a framework being debated in Springfield to change the way our state funds education. On behalf of Stand, I offered two suggestions for how to make the Evidence Based Model more equitable:

  1. Add a poverty concentration weight.
  2. Incorporate teacher pension funding parity.

Be sure to check out the handout we gave to members of the Committee for a deeper dive and an annotated bibliography that highlights research on why poverty concentration matters.

The fight for fair school funding in Illinois continues, and we will keep you posted as the debate progresses.
