Late last week, the Illinois State Board of Education announced preliminary statewide results of the PARCC assessment, the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers. This state assessment, in its second year, measures whether Illinois students are learning the math and English skills they will need to prepare them for college and career success. We all have work to do to get our students fully prepared for college and career, but this year’s initial data gives us a more accurate portrait of where things stand and how improved the PARCC process is compared to last year.
