The school year has wrapped up, and with it, so has the second year of PARCC testing. I am a parent member of a statewide committee called the “State Assessment Review Committee” (SARC) and we need your feedback!
I, for one, am really glad that Illinois has moved away from the old fill-in-the-bubble tests toward a high-quality assessment that encourages critical thinking and writing. We need to know if our children are meeting the high standards we set for them. But we also need to be thoughtful and get it right. And that means hearing how testing actually went in classrooms – from the good to the bad to the ugly.
SARC is doing a statewide listening tour and asking to hear from parents, students, and teachers throughout Illinois. Last year, PARCC made some major changes in response to feedback from stakeholders. Help us keep the constructive feedback coming so we can make sure we get this right!
