Policy Focus: Dual Credit Access and Quality
The 2019-20 Policy Fellows will play a critical role in Stand’s evaluation of the dual-credit landscape in Illinois.
Access to dual-credit opportunities can help students prepare for and succeed in college while reducing the cost and time to graduate. On the flip side, shutting low-income and minority students out of such high-value programs increases education inequity.
Participants will choose from advocacy opportunities such as data analysis, field study, and co-authoring a report expected to be foundational in recommending State-level policy opportunities. Their work will build off the efforts of the 2018-19 Class of Policy Fellows and their report, Stop Illinois Brain Drain: Building Pathways to Prosperity for High School Students. We are particularly interested in students and educators with direct experience in dual-credit, but open to others with an interest in this important topic.
