Cymone Card is a first-generation child, her parents immigrated from Belize in Central America. She lived in New York City with her family until attending Gettysburg College to obtain her bachelor’s degree. After graduation, Cymone became a Teach for America Corps 2014 member. She taught preschool on the West Side of Chicago for two years. During her two years she became very close with families in the community and wanted to keep engaging with the community to make social change. Cymone began organizing around Early Childhood Education on the West Side and transitioned into education policy and advocacy work. After the classroom, she continued her work at New Schools for Chicago where she helped families in Chicago Public Schools advocate for high outcomes for their children. She is currently pursuing a master’s degrees in Public Policy and Children's Law and Policy at Loyola University.
