Diana Romero Campbell for DPS District 1
“As a District 1 native, Diana Romero Campbell has firsthand knowledge of the need for literacy supports and clearly prioritizes educational equity and supporting our teachers and families. With her dedication to giving children access to resources and support needed to get a quality education regardless of their background, economic status, or the barriers they face, we believe she will do a great job for all of us in the DPS family,”
- Sarah Titus, member of Stand for Children parent endorsement committee.
Why Parents Support Diana for School Board
Diana has worked in early childhood education most of her career. She will focus on increasing opportunities for early childhood education because she says “earlier is easier, and early education starts our students on a trajectory for success that will follow them their entire life.”
Teacher recruitment and retention is Diana’s top priority. Diana wants to recruit future teachers, particularly teachers of color from our own DPS community.
Diana will work to listen to the community –including teachers, families, educators and neighbors when making decisions on the School Board.
Diana will work to support students throughout their school experience. She will focus ensuring equity in access to every pathway including college prep, concurrent enrollment, AP classes, internships, and apprenticeships.
Diana is committed to working to close opportunity gaps and be strategic about dismantling the systemic injustices that are embedded within dominant cultural values in our district.
Diana grew up in Southwest Denver as the daughter of teachers. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and University of Denver and is now the mother of a DPS graduate and current student. She has worked in the Denver Metro nonprofit community for 20 years focusing on early childhood education, youth development, family engagement, and education.
