Daniel Hernandez Jr., House District 2
Representative Hernandez is a native Arizonan with an extensive record of public service and community involvement. During his first term, he demonstrated his ability to find bipartisan solutions. He is a strong supporter of early literacy programs and reforming English Language Learner requirements. Hernandez expects to receive his degree in Political Science this fall from the University of Arizona. He has spent his career serving his community in various roles. In January 2011, while working for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Hernandez experienced gun violence first-hand and is credited with saving Giffords’ life. The events that day and the aftermath drove him to advocate for gun violence prevention at the state and national level, which he does to this day. Rep. Hernandez has served on the Sunnyside Unified District’s Governing Board since 2011.
