Welcome to Issue #1 of our Summer of Learning newsletter! Every week we will be sharing a variety of activities, resources, and tips to keep your kids learning and entertained until the new school year. 

This week, we're focusing on how you can start planning for the next three months. We all know how the days of summer can fly by leaving us wondering where the time went when September comes around. Take control of vacation and combat summer boredom by taking a look ahead at the activities and events your family can enjoy. Family Literacy Activity Calendar (Statewide) This incredible resource from the Colorado State Library provides a different literacy activity that you can do with your child every single day of the year! Engaging pictures and book suggestions make this FREE calendar a must for every family. PRO TIP: Use this calendar to keep track of all the reading your kids do or plan summer learning goals!

Free Summer Events Calendar (Denver Metro Area) For our families in the Denver Metro Area, check out all of the free family-friendly events happening this summer in our Events Calendar. From free museum days to cultural festivals, there's a fun and educational event for everyone. Click on the title of each event to learn more. 


Try this activity: Food Alphabet!

Make a food alphabet book. Fold over paper and cut out or draw pictures of food items for each letter of the alphabet. Start in your kitchen and see how many you can think of! We'll start: A for apple, B for banana, C for cheese ....
