Stand for Children Colorado executive director, Krista Spurgin issued the following statement tonight in response the Denver Public Schools Board of Education voting in favor of a resolution to adopt the recommendations issued by the Reimagine the SPF Committee, charged with rethinking the School Performance Framework.
“Tonight’s vote is a victory for families. Parents have been calling for transparent information about schools and now we are closer to providing that important information. The Reimagine the SPF Committee, made up of teachers, parents, and community leaders met for six months to develop recommendations for how to rethink the School Performance Framework. We applaud the board for listening to the community and adopting all three recommendations. Now we look forward to engaging parents in what they want to see in a dashboard that provides families important information about schools and supports goals to close achievement gaps and strive toward equity.”
Stand for Children has been working to involve families in the SPF Reimagining process for a year.
