In this series, we’re talking about the skills students need to be strong readers. Below you will find a description of the skill and an activity to support building this skill. Happy reading!

Reading Comprehension: Reading comprehension is the process of determining the meaning of the text. This is an interactive process between the student and the written content.

Practice reading comprehension with our Reading Cubes!

Reading Cubes (Ideal for K-5th grade): Reading should be a conversation and by pausing to ask questions throughout the book you are supporting your child's reading comprehension and creativity. Check out our literacy cubes for a fun way to practice reading comprehension.

  1. Download literacy cubes in English or Spanish
  2. Cut and paste/tape the cube. Use each cube to ask your child questions before, during, and after reading!

We’ve pulled these helpful descriptions from the National Council on Teacher Quality. Learn more here
