If voting is still on your to-do list, we wanted to put all of the resources we've been sharing over the last couple of months in one convenient spot so you can find them when you sit down to vote. There are important measures on the ballot this year that if passed, will mean increased funding for schools that is critically needed. If you haven't already, join me in completing your ballot this week and then find a secure ballot drop box near you to drop it off.
Vote YES on:
Prop EE: Proposition EE will provide desperately needed funding for public schools and universal, free preschool for all Colorado four year olds by raising taxes on cigarettes and closing the vaping tax loophole.
Amendment B: Amendment B will repeal the Gallagher Amendment which has caused school funding shortfalls as the state has had to take on a greater burden of funding K-12 education. A repeal would allow for more localized funding, relieving pressure on the state budget.
- Ballot Initiative 4A, the Mill Levy supporting Denver Public Schools would fund: mental health services for students, additional school nurses, expanded special education services and increasing the minimum wage for district support staff.
- Ballot Initiative 4B, The bond measure supporting Denver Public Schools, would provide a $795 million to build and maintain schools. The bond would fund: air conditioning for 24 of the hottest DPS school buildings, expanded technology access, additional classrooms to help with overcrowding, and addressing maintenance issues.
There's still time to join our team in helping to get the word out about these initiatives (from home!) before elections day. Sign up to volunteer to join our text team here.
