Claire is Stand for Children Colorado's awesome, new state operations coodinator. Claire was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. While earning a degree in International Affairs from the University of Georgia, she developed a passion for understanding educational systems’ impact on communities. After spending a year teaching English in Madrid, Spain, Claire moved to Colorado to teach for Rocky Mountain Prep in Denver. During her four years in classrooms, Claire prioritized partnerships with parents and families, knowing that they are our students’ first and longest lasting teachers and advocates. Claire is passionate about engagement and advocacy work that combats educational inequity in our country. In joining Stand, she is committed to coordinating an operational strategy that enhances Stand’s impact and invests and mobilizes communities and policy makers in its mission. In her free time, Claire enjoys traveling with her fiancé, Rhys, and searching for the best eats in town.

What makes you most excited about your work at Stand?

The TEAM! I am so energized by working with people committed to equity and justice- so proud to be on this team.

Why did you choose to work at Stand?

There is so much amazing work happening to fight educational inequity in Colorado and Stand’s commitment to engaging and empowering parents and families in that work is what I want to be a part of.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I  think I always wanted to be a teacher. Since I was young, I’ve loved being around and caring for the little ones. I’m so proud to have started my career as a classroom teacher!

Where are we most likely to find you when you are not at work?

Eating my way through Denver.
