Asia is Stand for Children Colorado's Development Manager where she works with our team to build fundraising systems and strategy. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Asia attended Creighton University where she received a B.A. in Theology with a minor in Health Administration and Policy. After graduation, she served as a full-time Jesuit Volunteer and then a fundraiser at a non-profit, low-income high school in Brooklyn, New York which ignited her passion for education. Asia was most recently on the Corporate and Foundation Relations team at City Harvest, an anti-hunger, food-rescue organization in New York City.

What makes you most excited about your work at Stand?

Stand is an organization that understands that direct service and meeting the immediate needs of communities is not enough. Stand works for long-term systems change by expertly combining in-school family engagement with policy improvement and implementation. I am proud to fight for improved literacy rates in our state! The ability to read is a basic skill that all students need.

Why did you choose to work at Stand?

I owe it to the amazing teachers and quality education I received throughout my life for where I am today. I am also a first-generation college student. My experience at Creighton University was fruitful and inspiring – they helped me realize that you can make an impactful difference through both your personal life and your 9 to 5. Everyone deserves a high-quality education, it is a basic right. I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to set future generations up for success in education.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A movie star or an orthopedic surgeon. I had big, conflicting dreams.

Where are we most likely to find you when you are not at work?

Living my best cat life, soaking up the sun or taking a nap.
