10 parents attended the first in a series of Read Now Colorado parent literacy workshops at Schmitt Elementary School today. The workshops are focused on providing parents skills and resources to better support their child’s reading development.
Today’s workshop provided participants with information about the importance of literacy, ways to find out how their child is doing learning to read, and ideas to find appropriate and interesting books and materials. Topics for the next 3 workshops include: building an action plan to support reading at home, partnering with your child’s teacher for success, local data equity walk, and the role of state literacy policy.
Stand has been hosting literacy workshops for families in Southwest Denver for the last year. Anyone interested in more information or participating in the literacy workshops should contact Ivana.
