With Colorado’s legislative session officially underway, Stand for Children remains committed to our unwavering mission: ensuring that all children, regardless of background, have access to a quality education. This year, we expect to see a number of contentious issues raised at the Capitol related to pay equity, construction defects, and TABOR. When it comes to education issues, we are optimistic that Colorado legislators will find common ground and support the needs of students. Children are the future of our state, and a solid educational foundation will give them the key to success.

Stand for Children Colorado has outlined the following priorities for the 2016 legislative session:

  • Maintaining rigorous standards that challenge students and prepare them for college or career.
  • Ensuring that students benefit from effective educators and administrators in every school.
  • Supporting policies that promote literacy, particularly for those in kindergarten through third grade.
  • Advocating for adequate school funding across all of Colorado’s districts.

Thank you for your support and commitment to Colorado’s kids!  Check back to our blog every Friday for our weekly update, "This Week at the Capitol."
