Mia was first taught the value of education from her father, a Superintendent at Baldy View ROP, and mother, who used education to access a better life by becoming an RN. She went on to intern for Teach For America during her junior year of college and continued to pursue leadership development opportunities after graduating with a B.A. in Sociology from Saint Mary’s College.
Participating in the CORO Fellowship in Public Affairs allowed Mia to work with several state and local government agencies, education and labor entities, and for and nonprofits. This experience started her on the path of developing the necessary skills to become a change maker who forges connections and works across sectors toward a common goal.
Shortly thereafter, Mia began working as a Political Associate for NextGen Climate, an organization dedicated to fighting climate change. There, she supported the political team and directed operations in three swing states and their eleven regional offices for the presidential election.
Mia is now eager to be a part of the Arizona Stand team, where she will be managing operations for the office and supporting Rebecca Gau, Stand Arizona’s Executive Director.
After a lifelong stint in California, Mia has just moved to Arizona! She is excited to explore the outdoor scene and get involved in other causes that matter to her, such as animal welfare and the environment.
