Stand for Children Arizona launches new advocacy campaign focused on education funding
Creates #EdSquad to generate support for long-term, sustainable education funding solution
PHOENIX (February 24) – Stand for Children Arizona today announced an exciting new advocacy campaign vital to Arizona’s children. It will raise awareness about the need for a long-term and sustainable education funding solution for Arizona schools to create better outcomes for Arizona kids.
As part of the campaign, Stand Arizona has created #EdSquad, a new movement that encourages parents, supporters, teachers and other organizations to support any effort or policy that serves to move the state one step closer to those goals.
“Our #EdSquad campaign is about starting a movement that helps Arizona’s kids achieve better outcomes,” Executive Director Rebecca Gau said. “Governor Ducey’s budget proposal and Proposition 123 will put us one step closer to our goals. We applaud the effort and invite others to join #EdSquad, a growing team of education advocates across the state who are standing up for Arizona schools.”
Campaign components will include earned and paid media, social media, digital strategies, and grassroots efforts.
“This is an ongoing campaign that can be applied to all angles of education policy discussions,” Gau added. “We may not all agree on process, but we can all agree on at least one thing – that we all want better futures for Arizona’s kids. Ultimately, that’s what the #EdSquad is all about.”
“There’s no doubt that education cuts have real consequences for our kids, which is why the #EdSquad campaign will also push back against any proposed cuts to Arizona’s education budget,” said Craig Barrett, Stand for Children Arizona Advisory Board Chair and former Chair and CEO of Intel (Ret.). “Any proposal that cuts education funding is the wrong direction for Arizona families, students and educators.”
